Pub Crawls in Nice

The Original Nice Free Pub Crawl starts at Wayne's Bar, 15 Rue de la Préfecture, and works through four or five Old Town bars before ending at High Club on Avenue de la Victoire. The ticket is €10. The Riviera Bar Crawl runs a separate circuit from Le Plongeoir on Quai des États-Unis, hitting cocktail lounges and ending at Castel Club on the beachfront for €25. Two operators, two different price points, the same Friday and Saturday nights. The Old Town crawl is the default for most backpackers. The Riviera circuit is for anyone who wants their drinks served in a glass with ice.

The Nice Nightlife Scene

Nice's nightlife runs almost entirely through the Old Town's streets south of Place Masséna. Rue de la Préfecture and Rue Droite hold most of the bars within a ten-minute walk of each other. High Club on Avenue de la Victoire is where the night ends for most people. The crowd skews backpacker and French student in summer, much more local from October.

What you'll pay

Drinks in Old Town bars run €5 to €7 for a beer, €9 to €12 for cocktails. During happy hour at Shapko Bar on Rue de la Préfecture, cocktails drop to €7. Cover at High Club is €10 to €15 depending on the night and what time you arrive. A realistic evening including four drinks and club entry runs €35 to €50. Prices verified April 2026.

Best nights to go

Saturday draws the biggest crowd and High Club runs its longest sets. Thursday in shoulder season is worth knowing: the backpacker-to-local ratio flips in favour of locals, and the smaller bars on Rue Droite feel less managed. Avoid Sunday: most Old Town bars close by midnight and High Club does not run every Sunday.

What You Will Pay

The backpacker crawl costs €10 and includes free shots and discounted drinks across four or five Old Town venues. The Riviera Bar Crawl is €25 with a free welcome drink at each of three or four stops. After the crawl, cocktails at Shapko Bar on Rue de la Préfecture cost €10–€12 standard, €7 during happy hour from 6 PM to 9 PM. Wayne's Bar charges €6 per pint. High Club entry is €15–€20 but flyers around town can get you in free before midnight. Speakeasy Le Ghost on Rue Droite charges €12 per cocktail and nothing for entry. Nice is not as cheap as Lisbon or Medellín, but it is significantly more affordable than Paris for the same quality of night.

Best Night to Go

The backpacker crawl runs every Thursday and Saturday. Saturday brings the bigger group and the better crowd at High Club. If you are there in shoulder season, October and early November are underrated: the backpacker crowd thins, the locals return to their own bars, and the Old Town feels more like itself.
