Krabi Airport is 15km from Ao Nang. Minibus transfers cost 150 THB per person. Ferries from Koh Phi Phi take 1 hour 45 minutes and cost 250–350 THB; from Koh Lanta, 2 hours at 350–450 THB. Both routes run morning departures in high season.

Ao Nang is the practical base; Railay for romance

Ao Nang has the main hostel cluster and is the cheaper base. Dorm beds run 300–500 THB. Railay accommodation starts around 800 THB for a private room and goes up steeply; there are no hostels on Railay itself.
