Annual. Opening parties: last week of May. Closing parties: last two weeks of September. Peak season: July–August.

What Is Ibiza Summer Season?

Ibiza is not a single event: it is a four-month season. The island's clubs open for the summer in late May, run at escalating intensity through June, peak in July and August, then wind down with the closing parties in September. Understanding this arc matters if you are planning a visit: July and August are the most expensive, most crowded, and highest-energy months. May, June, and September offer the same clubs at lower ticket prices and with more room to breathe.

The main clubs are Ushuaia, Amnesia, Pacha, Hi, DC-10, and Privilege. Each has a distinct character. Ushuaia is an open-air hotel pool club: the most photographed venue on the island. DC-10 is the underground option, known for the Monday Circoloco night which has been running since 1999 and remains one of the most revered club nights in the world. Pacha is the grand dame of Ibiza clubbing, operating since 1973. These are not interchangeable: which club you choose depends on what kind of music and atmosphere you want.

Budget honestly. Entry to a top club costs £30–80 depending on the night and the DJ. Drinks inside cost £10–15 each. A full night at a top club: entry plus 4–5 drinks: costs £80–130. This is not a budget destination for nightlife. The money-saving strategies are real: buying tickets online in advance saves £10–20 on the door, the opening and closing party weeks are significantly cheaper than peak, and San Antonio on the west coast is cheaper for accommodation than Ibiza Town on the east.

Getting to Ibiza is either a 1-hour flight from Barcelona or an 8-hour overnight ferry. The ferry from Barcelona's ferry port drops you in Ibiza Town. Flights are significantly faster but cost more. In July and August, flight prices from the UK are high: budget £80–150 return depending on when you book. The ferry from Barcelona is £50–80 each way but the overnight crossing saves a night's accommodation.

What to Expect

Day-by-day breakdown

Opening parties (late May)

The season begins: best value, serious crowd

Club opening parties happen across the last week of May and into early June. Tickets cost 20–30% less than peak rates. The crowd at opening parties skews towards returning regulars and genuine club music fans rather than first-timers. Ushuaia, Amnesia, and Pacha all run dedicated opening nights: check dates when they are announced in March.

June

Building momentum: the sweet spot for value

By June all major clubs are running their regular weekly nights. Accommodation is available (book 4–6 weeks ahead). Entry prices have risen from opening weekend but are not yet at peak. The island is busy but not overwhelmed. June is widely considered the best month to visit if you want a genuine experience without peak-season pricing.

July–August (peak season)

Full capacity, highest prices, best lineups

Every club runs 4–6 nights per week. Headline DJs play the biggest nights. Accommodation books out in March for peak weeks. Ticket prices at the door can hit £80 for a headline Saturday night at Hi or Ushuaia. San Antonio's Sunset Strip fills nightly. The island runs at absolute capacity. Book everything in advance.

September (closing parties)

The emotional end of the season

Closing parties run across the last two weeks of September. The atmosphere is distinctly different from peak season: experienced, nostalgic, often emotional. The closing night of DC-10 Circoloco and Pacha's closing are among the most sought-after tickets of the entire season. Prices drop from peak rates; the crowd quality is arguably the highest of the year.

Practical Tips

Pre-drink, use the Discobus, buy tickets online
The three cost-saving moves. Pre-drinking at the hostel or at San Antonio's West End bars before 1am significantly reduces in-club spend. The Discobus between San Antonio and Ibiza Town runs all night and costs £2–4. Online tickets are always cheaper than the door price.
San Antonio for budget; Ibiza Town for location
San Antonio on the west coast is consistently cheaper for accommodation and has its own nightlife scene around the West End and Sunset Strip. Ibiza Town is more expensive but closer to Pacha, the ferry terminal, and the old town. Both connect to the main clubs by Discobus.
Book accommodation by March for July and August
Ibiza has limited hostel stock. Options in Ibiza Town and San Antonio that are priced reasonably book out by March for peak weeks. Availability in June and September is easier to find on shorter notice.
The Discobus app shows live routes and timings
The Ibiza Bus network app or the official Ibiza site publishes Discobus schedules. Services run throughout the night between San Antonio, Ibiza Town, and the main clubs during the season.
This is a recognised drug-harm-reduction destination
The Loop harm-reduction service operates at Amnesia and other venues during the season: they test substances and provide safety information. Their presence is formal and city-supported. Be aware of what this means for the crowd profile, plan your night accordingly, and do not leave drinks unattended.
Stay Hydrated
Alternate alcoholic drinks with water throughout the day and night. Heat, dancing, and alcohol combine quickly. Most venues sell bottled water cheaply.
