Montenegro's Adriatic party capital packs clubs and beach bars into a medieval walled town, with the Slovenska obala seafront running DJ sets until dawn.
Budva is a medieval walled town on Montenegro's Adriatic coast, and it doubles as the country's most active party destination from June through September. The old town walls enclose a compact area of marble streets and bars that close at 2am or 3am; outside the walls, the Slovenska obala promenade runs 1.5km south and hosts the louder beach clubs, including Top Hill nightclub 4km south on the Sveti Stefan road. The combination makes for a natural two-stage night: old town bars first, seafront clubs later.
The clientele is predominantly Serbian, Russian, and regional Balkan visitors alongside a steady flow of Western European backpackers. Rakija (Balkan fruit brandy) costs €2–€3 for a generous measure at most old town bars; cocktails run €5–€8. Nikola Beer Garden on the seafront promenade is the most popular outdoor venue for large groups, with long shared tables, cheap beer (€2–€3), and live music most nights. Top Hill, the large open-air club on the hill above the resort area, runs Fridays and Saturdays with internationally known DJs in high season; entry is €10–€20 and the bus from the old town costs €2.

Day-by-day breakdown
Enter the old town through the main gate on Mediteranska and walk the marble alleys until you find a bar with space. Casper Bar and Poseidon Bar are reliable in the walls; both have outdoor seating on the alleys and run rakija and cold Nikšićko beer at fair prices. Exit the walls by 9:30pm and walk south along the Slovenska obala promenade, which is fully pedestrianised and lined with restaurants and bars. The sea views at this point are genuinely good; find a seafront table and watch the promenade fill.
Troica Beach Bar at the southern end of Slovenska obala has a dancefloor that opens after midnight and runs commercial and Balkan pop. Club Greco on Mediteranska inside the old town walls is the most central late venue and closes at 3am. For the serious club option, take the scheduled minibus (€2, runs until 4am in high season) south along the coast to Top Hill on the Sveti Stefan road, which runs the largest open-air DJ nights in Montenegro. The bus stops outside the old town's main gate on the hour.
