Budva punches well above its weight for a town of this size. The Old Town, Stari Grad, sits on a walled peninsula jutting into the Adriatic, and by night its stone alleys fill up fast with people spilling out of bars and heading towards the beach. The Budva Riviera stretches 21km either side of town, with 17 beaches to pick from when you finally surface the next morning. Nightlife here ranges from cocktail bars tucked inside medieval walls to full-scale beach clubs and clubs on the Slovenska Obala strip that run until sunrise. The hostel scene is growing steadily, with several places organising boat trips, pub crawls, karaoke nights, and shared barbecues so you actually meet people before heading out. Dorm beds start around €6, which leaves plenty of budget for a night out.

Nice social hostel with chill open common areas. Enjoy free welcome drink, cosy lounge, bar, and balcony. Feel free to use a fully equipped kitchen to make your own food. Or go for lunch in one of the local restaurants just next to the hostel. Well-located within the walls of the old city, walking distance from the party street.
A friendly and social hostel in the heart of the old town, surrounded by local bars and restaurants. Right next to the beach and beach bars. The hostel offers plenty of whole-day tours out of the city, like rafting on Tara river, sailing around Boka bay, and St. Stefan tour. Great common area for meeting other backpackers and playing board games.
Organised nights out with a local guide
Organised by Montenegro Hostel Travel Agency, this crawl runs from mid-May to mid-October and visits a selection of Budva's bars and clubs in one guided night out. The tour is open to anyone, not just hostel guests, and runs on a monthly schedule when a minimum group of 10 people is confirmed. Expect a mix of Old Town bars and Slovenska Obala venues across the evening.
How Budva's nightlife zones break down
The walled Old Town sits on a small peninsula and is the most atmospheric part of Budva. Narrow stone alleys connect a cluster of bars, restaurants, and tiny nightclubs, all within the medieval walls. It gets lively early in the evening and stays that way until the early hours.
This is Budva's main beachfront strip, running north from the Old Town along the seafront promenade. It's lined with beach bars, clubs, and larger venues that crank up the volume from late evening. Most of the big beach clubs and open-air club nights happen here.
A quieter residential stretch south of the centre where many of Budva's more affordable hostels and guesthouses are located. It's a short walk or cheap taxi ride to the Old Town and beaches, and it gives you a break from the noise when you need sleep.
Where the hostel pub crawls end up, and where to go on your own
One of the biggest clubs on the Adriatic coast, Top Hill sits on a hilltop above Budva with an open-air dancefloor and panoramic sea views. International DJs headline through summer and the crowd is a mix of tourists and locals who take their nights seriously. Gets going after midnight and runs until well after dawn.
A beach club and nightclub right on the sand along Slovenska Obala, Aquarius is one of the most popular spots on the strip. Expect commercial house and Balkan pop, a young crowd, and drink deals earlier in the evening. The seafront setting makes it hard to leave.
A well-known bar inside the Old Town walls, Casper is a solid first stop on any night out. It's small, gets packed quickly, and the staff pour decent cocktails at prices that won't sting. Arrive before 10pm if you want a seat.
A long-standing bar-club hybrid in Stari Grad with a terrace that overlooks the sea. Trocadero attracts a slightly older crowd than some of the beach clubs and plays a mix of lounge, house, and occasional live sets. Good cocktail menu and one of the better spots for a drink before heading elsewhere.
A relaxed backpacker-friendly bar in the Old Town area that draws a mixed international crowd most nights. It's one of the few places in Budva where you'll hear rock and indie alongside the usual commercial playlist. Cheap beers and a sociable atmosphere make it a reliable pre-club stop.
A popular sports bar and social spot near the Old Town that works well for groups looking for a lower-key evening. Cold beers, a decent selection of spirits, and regular football on the screens. Gets busy from around 9pm in summer.
