Bohol's party scene is quieter than Boracay's, but that's exactly the point. The island draws backpackers who want white-sand beaches by day and cold San Miguel on a breezy terrace by night. Alona Beach on Panglao Island is the main hub, a compact strip of bars, dive shops and guesthouses where the social scene sorts itself out naturally after sunset. Reggae Bar and Alona Kew White Beach are the kind of spots where you end up chatting with strangers until the early hours without really planning to. Tagbilaran City, a short jeepney ride from the causeway to Panglao, has a handful of local bars around Torralba Street worth checking out if you want something less touristy. The hostel scene here is growing, with Mad Monkey Panglao bringing its social-first formula to the island and a few smaller guesthouses keeping dorm beds genuinely affordable. It's not Amsterdam. It is, however, a very good time.

Bohol Coco Farm is the perfect party spot with a lively social vibe and nightly group activities. The Saturday pub crawl takes guests to multiple bars with free shots, making it an unforgettable experience. Happy Hour and family dinners create a fun, welcoming atmosphere, perfect for meeting new friends and enjoying the island’s vibrant nightlife.
Abraham Bohol is the perfect party hostel, offering a lively atmosphere just minutes from Alona’s white sand beaches and the best bars in Panglao. With nightly events, a cocktail bar by the pool, and no corkage fee, it’s a hotspot for socializing and meeting fellow travellers for endless fun.
Mad Monkey Panglao is the ultimate party hostel, offering nightly events that guarantee a wild time with fellow travellers. With a lively bar, DJ sets, drinking games, and pool parties, the social vibe is always electric. The outdoor pool and garden are perfect spots to chill by day and party by night!
How Bohol's nightlife zones break down
This is where Bohol's backpacker scene actually lives. A 1.5-kilometre strip of white sand lined with guesthouses, dive shops, beach bars and cheap restaurants, Alona Beach is compact enough to walk end to end in twenty minutes. Most of the hostels, including Mad Monkey, are within a few minutes of the main strip.
Bohol's provincial capital sits on the southwest coast of the main island, about 45 minutes from Alona by road. Torralba Street and the area around the City Mall have the most life after dark, with a handful of local bars and karaoke joints that see very few tourists. It's also where you'll find the main ferry port, banks and the island's best ATMs.
The main settlement on Panglao Island sits roughly in the middle of the island, between the airport and Alona Beach. It's quieter than Alona but a useful base if you want cheaper accommodation away from the beachfront premium. The Panglao public market is good for an early breakfast, and several guesthouses here offer the same easy access to the beach via a short tricycle ride.
Where the hostel pub crawls end up, and where to go on your own
One of the most consistently popular spots on Alona Beach, with live acoustic sets most evenings and a laid-back crowd of divers and backpackers. Buckets of beer are cheap, the fires go on the beach after dark, and it's the kind of place where a quick drink turns into a full night out.
A favourite for sundowners, this beachfront bar fills up from around 5pm with a mix of travellers and local expats. DJ nights on weekends keep things going later than most spots on the strip, and the cocktail menu is more ambitious than you'd expect for a beach bar.
A small, sociable bar a short walk from the main Alona strip, popular with divers finishing late-night refreshers and backpackers who want cheaper drinks away from the beachfront premium. Happy hour runs until 7pm with San Miguel bottles going for around ₱60.
The in-hostel bar at Mad Monkey is the social centre of Panglao's backpacker scene. Regular drinking games, themed nights and a pool make it easy to meet people without setting foot off the property. It draws both hostel guests and walk-ins from neighbouring guesthouses.
A long-running spot on Alona Beach with a reputation for staying open later than most. The crowd is a reliable mix of backpackers, island-hopping day-trippers and dive instructors unwinding after work. Draught beer and pizza make it a solid choice for an evening base.
Slightly more upbeat than the typical beach shack, Coco Amigos plays a mix of pop and dance tracks and gets genuinely busy on Friday and Saturday nights. The cocktail pitchers are good value and the outdoor seating spills right onto the sand.
