From late February through early April, Cancun's Hotel Zone hosts the Western hemisphere's most concentrated run of daily beach parties, pool parties, and club nights, drawing upwards of 100,000 visitors in peak weeks.
Cancun's spring break season is not a single event but a sustained six-week period during which the Hotel Zone on Kukulcán Boulevard operates at maximum capacity. American college students on spring recess account for the majority of arrivals, with peak weeks corresponding to mid-March when most US university breaks fall simultaneously. The primary venues are Coco Bongo, a 5,000-person club and variety show on Kukulcán Boulevard; Mandala Beach Club, which runs from noon through 3am with DJ sets and live acts; The City, one of the largest clubs in Latin America with a 6,000-person capacity; and the outdoor Dady'O venue further along the strip. Foam parties, international DJ nights, and themed events run daily across all major venues during peak weeks.
The Hotel Zone itself is a 14-mile sandspit connected to Cancun city by two bridges. Most spring break accommodation, from budget hostels to all-inclusive hotels, sits along this strip. Hostel beds during peak March weeks run 400–700 MXN per night (£16–£28) and should be booked six to eight weeks in advance. The beach itself is public: Playa Delfines and Playa Chac Mool are the best free beach spots and both have food and drink vendors selling beer for 50–80 MXN. The tipping culture is American-standard here: service staff expect 15–20% and will make clear if this expectation is not met.

Day-by-day breakdown
Beach clubs open from 11am. Mandala Beach charges a cover during spring break that typically includes a drinks credit. The main public beaches are free and attract informal parties throughout the afternoon. Playa Delfines at the southern end of the Hotel Zone has strong Atlantic surf and is less crowded than the central beaches. The water is warm enough to swim in mid-March at 26–27°C. Most hostels run their own daytime pool events with DJ sets, which are a cheaper option than the beach club cover charges.
Clubs open from 9pm but rarely fill before midnight. Coco Bongo's show format involves aerial acrobatics, live tribute acts, and DJs cycling through commercial dance and Latin music; the experience is deliberately theatrical rather than a standard club night. The City and Mandala are closer to conventional clubs. Kukulcán Boulevard taxis run continuously until 4am and charge fixed zone rates; agree the price before getting in. Most clubs close between 3am and 5am.
