Bulgaria's biggest beach music festival: four nights on the Black Sea shore with 150,000 attendees, electronic and pop headliners, and one of Eastern Europe's most affordable festival setups.
Spirit of Burgas takes place on Burgas Beach on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast, 90 kilometres south of Varna. The festival site runs directly on the sand in front of the Burgas Sea Garden, with the main stage facing the water. It is the largest music festival in Bulgaria by attendance, drawing 30,000–40,000 per night across a four-night run. The lineup spans electronic headliners, Bulgarian pop, and international acts across three stages. Burgas is an easier base than Varna for the festival: its old town is a 10-minute walk from the beach venue and has a concentration of budget accommodation along Aleko Bogoridi and the pedestrian zone.
Varna, further north on the coast, is the larger city and a practical base if you plan to combine the festival with time at the Golden Sands beach resort (15 kilometres north of Varna, accessible by bus 109 from the central bus station). The Varna to Burgas intercity bus costs BGN 12–15 (£5–7) and takes 90 minutes, with departures throughout the day. The Black Sea coast in August averages 28–30°C with sea temperatures around 24°C: the combination of beach, festival, and affordable prices makes this a reliable summer circuit for Eastern European and Balkan travellers.

Day-by-day breakdown
Thursday is the lowest-key night: crowds are smaller and ticket prices are often discounted. Bulgarian pop and local electronic acts open the main stage from 8pm. The beach promenade in front of the Sea Garden is free to walk regardless of ticket status, giving non-ticketholders a partial experience of the atmosphere. The Burgas old town bar strip along Bogoridi Street runs late on all four nights.
Saturday is the highest-attendance night. The international headline act closes the main stage around 1am. Capacity queues at the entry gates typically form from 8pm. The beach stages stay active until 4am on Saturday. Burgas city centre accommodation is fully booked: book transport back to Varna if you are based there, or arrange Burgas accommodation at least three weeks ahead.
