Trekkers and travellers unwind along Phewa Lake in Nepal's most sociable mountain town, where rooftop bars and a compact nightlife strip keep things going well past midnight.
Pokhara's party scene is built around a single strip. Lakeside Road, which runs for roughly two kilometres along the eastern shore of Phewa Lake, holds almost all the bars, hostels, restaurants, and clubs that matter. The Annapurna range is visible on clear mornings from the same stretch of road where people were dancing until 2am the night before. That contrast — serious trekking country five minutes from a functioning backpacker nightlife scene — is what defines the town.
The season peaks twice: October and November after the monsoon, when Annapurna Base Camp trekkers return to Pokhara to celebrate, and February to March, when winter trekking and the Holi festival bring a second surge. Club Catwalk on Lakeside Road is the main late-night venue, a no-frills club where live bands play until 10pm before DJs take over. Busy Bee Café does happy hour cocktails at half price from 5pm to 7pm daily. The whole scene is compact enough that switching venues takes under ten minutes on foot.
