What Is Pokhara Lakeside Party Season?

Pokhara's party scene is built around a single strip. Lakeside Road, which runs for roughly two kilometres along the eastern shore of Phewa Lake, holds almost all the bars, hostels, restaurants, and clubs that matter. The Annapurna range is visible on clear mornings from the same stretch of road where people were dancing until 2am the night before. That contrast — serious trekking country five minutes from a functioning backpacker nightlife scene — is what defines the town.

The season peaks twice: October and November after the monsoon, when Annapurna Base Camp trekkers return to Pokhara to celebrate, and February to March, when winter trekking and the Holi festival bring a second surge. Club Catwalk on Lakeside Road is the main late-night venue, a no-frills club where live bands play until 10pm before DJs take over. Busy Bee Café does happy hour cocktails at half price from 5pm to 7pm daily. The whole scene is compact enough that switching venues takes under ten minutes on foot.

Getting There

What to Expect

Day-by-day breakdown

Afternoon

Phewa Lake and early drinks

Rent a rowing boat from the main ghat for 300 NPR per hour and get out on the lake before sunset. The Fishtail mountain reflection is best between 4pm and 5pm. By 5pm the rooftop bars along Lakeside Road start filling with post-trek arrivals. Busy Bee Café's happy hour starts at 5pm. Plates of momos at the street stalls cost 120–180 NPR.

Evening

Lakeside strip and live music

Most bars along Lakeside Road have live music from around 7pm. Caffe Concerto and the bars clustered around the Barahi Chowk intersection are the social core. Club Catwalk opens at 8pm and runs live bands until 10pm, after which DJs take over. Drinks at clubs run to 400–600 NPR for a beer; cocktails are 500–800 NPR.

Late night

Clubs and the last round

Clubs stay open until 1am or 2am, with midnight being the peak hour. Club Catwalk and Club Eagle are the two main late venues. The strip is well-lit and walkable throughout; most hostels are within ten minutes of any venue. Last songthaew (shared taxi) back to the Damside area runs until about midnight.

Next morning

Recovery by the lake

The Phewa Lakeside promenade is quiet before 8am. Rent a boat, eat a proper breakfast at one of the bakeries on Lakeside Road, or book a paragliding session from the Sarangkot launch point, a 20-minute drive. Paragliding costs around 9,000–11,000 NPR and needs to be booked the morning before.

Practical Tips

The strip is compact — walk everything
Lakeside Road is roughly two kilometres. Every bar, club, and hostel worth visiting is on it or within 200 metres of it. Tuk-tuks are available but unnecessary once you are on the strip.
Happy hours are worth timing around
Busy Bee Café: 5pm to 7pm, cocktails half price. Caffe Concerto and several others run similar deals. Starting at 5pm and eating dinner before 8pm keeps costs down considerably.
ATMs are straightforward in Pokhara
Multiple ATMs on Lakeside Road. Nabil Bank and Standard Chartered both work reliably with foreign cards. Withdraw cash before heading out; clubs prefer cash for drinks. Budget 1,500–2,500 NPR for a full night.
The October–November season is the most social
Trekkers completing the Annapurna Circuit or ABC trek return to Pokhara in high spirits. The hostel common rooms and bars fill with people exchanging trail stories. This is the easiest time to meet people without effort.
Clubs close at 1am–2am on most nights
Nepal's late-night scene closes earlier than Southeast Asia. If you want a long night, start early. The strip is effectively done by 2am. Nobody is arriving at midnight expecting the night to just be beginning.
Book paragliding the day before
Paragliding from Sarangkot is one of the genuine highlights of Pokhara. Companies book up by mid-morning. Book it before your night out, not after. Flights run from 9am and last 20–30 minutes. Blue Sky Paragliding and Frontiers Paragliding both operate from the Sarangkot road.
