Paros Summer Party Season

Naousa's fishing-harbour bars and the open-air clubs of Parikia run through July and August: cheaper than Mykonos, quieter than Ios, with proper Cycladic nights that end at sunrise over the Aegean.

Annual summer season. Most venues open from mid-June and close in late September. Peak crowd is the last two weeks of July and the first two weeks of August.

What Is Paros Summer Party Season?

Paros sits between Mykonos and Naxos in the Cyclades, and its position explains the nightlife character: less expensive and less celebrity-driven than Mykonos, more developed than Naxos, with a genuine summer party scene that has been running since the 1980s. The two nightlife centres are Parikia (the port town and main accommodation hub) and Naousa (a fishing village on the north coast, 10km away). Parikia has the main clubs in a strip south of the old town. Naousa has the waterfront bars around the inner harbour, which stay open until 2am–3am.

The Paros nightlife circuit for backpackers runs Parikia's club strip from midnight, typically starting at Pebbles Bar on the waterfront and ending at the clubs at the south end of town. Beer in Paros bars runs €4–€7; cocktails €10–€14. Club entry is €8–€15, generally including a drink. Accommodation is cheaper than Mykonos but prices double in peak season: hostel dorms run €20–€35 in July and August. Paros is also the ferry hub for the inner Cyclades, making it a convenient base for island-hopping.

Getting There

What to Expect

Day-by-day breakdown

Evening

Naousa waterfront and Parikia pre-club

Naousa's inner harbour has bars and restaurants set around a whitewashed fishing village: grilled octopus, fried calamari, and Mythos beer at tables 10 metres from the water. Bars open from 7pm and stay busy until midnight. The bus from Naousa to Parikia runs until around midnight in peak season (€2.20, 20 minutes). Parikia's Pebbles Bar on the main waterfront is the standard pre-club stop: outdoor seating, relaxed atmosphere, beer €4–€6.

Late Night

Parikia club strip

Parikia's main clubs are clustered on the road south of the old town (Market Street area). Pebbles transitions to a later bar from midnight; Alexandros Club and Down Under Club are the main options for commercial dance and house. Sets run midnight to 4am–5am. Entry is €8–€15 including a drink. Cocktails inside clubs are €10–€14. The beach south of Parikia port is accessible at sunrise — a small group always ends up there as the clubs close.

Practical Tips

Ferries from Athens (Piraeus) take 3.5–5 hours
SeaJets fast ferry from Piraeus to Parikia takes approximately 3.5 hours (€35–€60). Blue Star Ferries takes 5 hours (€20–€35). Paros is also on ferry routes from Naxos (45 minutes), Ios (2 hours), and Santorini (3 hours). Ferries are the standard island-hopping transport.
Paros is cheaper than Mykonos — budget accordingly
A beer in Paros bars costs €4–€7 versus €8–€14 in Mykonos. The same applies to accommodation, food, and club entry. Budget €40–€70 for a full night out including food, drinks, and entry. This is materially cheaper than its Cyclades neighbour.
Stay in Parikia for nightlife; Naousa for ambience
Parikia is the practical base: ferry port, most accommodation options, and the main club strip within walking distance. Naousa is 10km north and more expensive but has a better atmosphere for early evenings. Dorm beds in Parikia in peak season: €20–€35. Book 3–4 weeks ahead for July and August.
Rent a scooter to reach Golden Beach and Kolibythres
Golden Beach (Chryssi Akti) on the east coast is Paros's best beach for swimming and watersports: 13km from Parikia. Kolibythres beach near Naousa has unusual granite rock formations. Scooter rental in Parikia costs €20–€30 per day for a 50cc automatic. The island is small enough to cover in a day.
Book ferries in advance for August
August ferry routes in the Cyclades fill quickly with Greek domestic tourists as well as international visitors. Book your onward ferry from Paros in advance via Ferries.gr or directly with Blue Star or SeaJets. Same-day booking in August is possible but risky on popular routes.
Withdraw cash in Parikia: ATMs in Naousa are scarce
Parikia has several ATMs near the port and market area. Naousa has limited ATM availability and machines run out on busy weekends. Withdraw what you need for the evening before taking the bus to Naousa.
