West Maui's former whaling town hosts a concentrated strip of live music venues, rooftop bars, and annual festivals from the Lahaina Arts Society to the Kapalua Wine and Food Festival.
Maui is not a club island. It does not have megaclubs, pub crawls, or beach raves. What it has is a well-developed live music scene anchored to Front Street in Lahaina, a concentration of rooftop bars and oceanfront venues in Kaanapali and Wailea, and a calendar of food, wine, and arts festivals spread across the year. The Kapalua Wine and Food Festival in June is the island's most prominent annual event: four days of tastings, chef dinners, and seminars at the Kapalua Resort, with tickets ranging from $75 for individual sessions to $400 for gala dinners. The Maui Film Festival in June brings outdoor cinema to Wailea's Celestial Cinema on the golf course lawn — screenings start at dusk and draw 3,000–5,000 people per night.
Front Street in Lahaina is the practical nightlife spine. The strip runs 1 kilometre from the Lahaina Harbour north to the banyan tree. Bars including Cool Cat Cafe, Fleetwood's on Front Street (owned by Mick Fleetwood), and Down the Hatch have live music from around 7pm. Cover charges are rare; drinks are priced at US resort levels — beer at $8–$12, cocktails $14–$18. The Maui Brewing Company taproom in Kihei is cheaper and has a broader crowd. Note: much of Front Street and surroundings was severely damaged in the August 2023 Lahaina wildfire. Rebuilding is ongoing as of early 2026; check current venue status before visiting.

Day-by-day breakdown
Maui's west-facing coast makes Front Street in Lahaina one of the better sunset-watching locations in Hawaii. Fleetwood's rooftop at 744 Front Street has a direct ocean view and live music from 6pm; drinks run $14–$18 for cocktails. The seawall around the harbour and the banyan tree area at the south end of Front Street are free alternatives with the same sunset. Check which venues have reopened post-wildfire before planning your route.
The resort bars at Kaanapali Beach Hotel and the Marriott Kaanapali run live Hawaiian music until midnight most nights in season. Wailea's bar scene at the Grand Wailea and Four Seasons is more polished and considerably more expensive. Maui Brewing Company in Kihei, on Lipoa Parkway, closes at 10pm but is the best value drinks stop of the night: craft beers at $7–$9, a relaxed crowd, and no dress code.
