What Is Lovestream Festival?

Lovestream Festival takes place at Old Airport Vajnory, a former airfield in the north-east of Bratislava, roughly 12km from the old town. The 2026 edition runs 7–9 August with Robbie Williams, OneRepublic, and Post Malone among the confirmed headliners. The site is flat and open, with multiple stages and a camping area. Previous editions have drawn 50,000–70,000 people over the three days, making it consistently the largest music event in Slovakia.

Bratislava's location works in its favour for festival-goers: it is an hour from Vienna by train (around €12 on the REX service from Wien Hauptbahnhof) and two and a half hours from Budapest. Many people base themselves in Bratislava's old town and commute to the site each evening, which keeps accommodation costs down and gives access to the city's castle district and riverside bar scene. The old town hostel cluster — around Obchodná Street and near Hviezdoslavovo Square — is well-served by buses toward the festival site. Vajnory is also reachable by taxi for around €15–20 from the centre.

Getting There

What to Expect

Day-by-day breakdown

Daytime

Bratislava old town before the gates open

The festival gates open at 3pm. Use the morning in the old town: Bratislava Castle gives good views over the Danube and into Austria, and the walk back down through the backstreets takes 40 minutes. Obchodná Street has cheap lunch options from €4–€7. The old town is compact enough to see the main sights in half a day.

Evening

Festival site, Vajnory

The main programme builds from around 5pm on the secondary stages. Headliners on the main stage typically start at 8:30pm and close at midnight or slightly after. Beer on site costs €4–€6. Food village includes Slovak street food: langoš (fried dough with toppings), grilled sausages, and halušky (potato dumplings). The airfield site is entirely flat, which makes navigation easy and crowds manageable.

Late Night

Back to old town or on-site camping

Taxis from Vajnory to the old town run until late and cost €15–€20. The last public bus back is around midnight on festival nights — check the route 68 timetable before you go. On-site camping is the alternative: three-night passes include the camping area. The campsite has shower facilities that work better on the first day than the third.

Day Trip

Vienna by train (1 hour)

The REX train from Bratislava Hlavná Stanica to Wien Hauptbahnhof takes 60 minutes and costs €12 each way. A day in Vienna between festival days is completely practical. The Prater park, Naschmarkt, and the MuseumsQuartier are all walkable from Wien Hauptbahnhof.

Practical Tips

Getting to the festival site
Bus 68 from Miletičova bus stop in the city runs toward Vajnory on festival days, taking about 25 minutes. Taxis (use Bolt or Hopin) cost €12–€20 from the old town. The taxi queue back after the headliner can be long: order one on the app as the final song plays rather than joining the queue.
Stay in the old town, not on site
Old town hostel beds cost €18–€30 per night in August. On-site camping adds €25–€35 to a three-day pass but saves the transport cost and the midnight commute. The old town option makes more sense if you plan to explore Bratislava and the Vienna day trip.
Tickets at lovestream.sk
The official ticket platform is lovestream.sk/en. Three-day passes sell out faster than day tickets. Early bird passes typically go in late autumn the year before. International Visa and Mastercard are accepted. Avoid third-party reseller sites: Slovakia has active ticket fraud.
August weather at an exposed airfield
August in Bratislava averages 26–30°C during the day. The Vajnory airfield has almost no shade. Sunscreen and a hat are essential for afternoon sessions. Temperatures drop to 17–19°C after midnight. A light layer for the late headliner is worth packing.
Slovak prices are low
Bratislava is one of the cheaper capital cities in central Europe. Beer in old town bars costs €2–€3.50. Hostel dorms: €18–€28. Dinner in a local restaurant: €8–€14. The cost saving versus Vienna or Prague makes it worth building your trip around Bratislava rather than commuting from a more expensive city.
Arriving by train
Bratislava Hlavná Stanica connects to Vienna (1 hour, €12), Budapest (2.5 hours, €15–€25), and Prague (4 hours, €20–€35). RegioJet and FlixBus also run to most central European cities for lower prices. The station is 2km from the old town: tram 1 or a 25-minute walk.
