Bali's original party strip — Poppies Lane, Sky Garden, and Jalan Legian — runs a nonstop club and bar circuit six nights a week, year-round, anchored by free entry deals and rooftop DJs.
Kuta is Bali's loudest and most commercially developed nightlife district, concentrated along Jalan Legian and the side streets running east toward Poppies Lane 1 and 2. Sky Garden on Jalan Legian is the centrepiece: a multi-floor club complex running from a ground-floor bar through rooftop DJ stages, with a system of free-entry wristbands tied to drink minimums. It holds several thousand people and runs until 4am. Paddy's Pub on Jalan Legian is directly opposite; along with the Bounty nightclub further south, these three venues define the tourist party circuit. The Seminyak area, 3km north along the coast road, runs a higher-end version of the same model, with Ku De Ta, Motel Mexicola, and La Favela drawing a wealthier crowd at higher prices.
Kuta's scene is deliberately accessible: free entry, aggressive shot promotions from around 8pm, and bars that allow takeaway drinks to the street. It produces the kind of nightlife that some people find exactly what they wanted and others find too frantic. The beach itself is wide and flat and becomes an extension of the bar scene on the evenings when the surf is up — watching fire dancers on the sand with the Indian Ocean behind them at 10pm is one of those specific Bali experiences that gets described in travel writing far more than it deserves. Legian Beach, 1km north of Kuta Beach, is the better-quality stretch for this. Budget for 50,000–90,000 IDR per drink in the main clubs; the warung around Poppies Lane 2 sell Bintang for 20,000–30,000 IDR.

Day-by-day breakdown
Kuta Beach runs 2km and faces due west, which makes it the best sunset beach on Bali's south coast. Sunbeds hire for IDR 30,000–50,000. Surf lessons on the beach cost IDR 100,000–150,000 for 2 hours with an instructor included. The warung along Poppies Lane 2 serve cold Bintang from IDR 20,000 — significantly cheaper than the clubs — and are the sensible pre-drink option. Happy hour at most beachfront bars runs from 4pm to 7pm with two-for-one cocktails at IDR 60,000–80,000.
The strip fills from around 10pm. Sky Garden's system involves a wristband at the door tied to a drink credit; the DJ stages on the upper floors run commercial house and hip-hop. Bounty has a dance floor that opens from the street level. Paddy's Pub is the loudest and most backpacker-heavy option. For a different tempo, Apache Reggae Bar on Jalan Legian runs reggae and dancehall sets until 4am in a slightly calmer setting. Taxis back to Seminyak or Ubud: negotiate before getting in or use Grab.
