Malaysia's largest music festival runs for two days at Genting Highlands, 6,000 feet above Kuala Lumpur, with 30,000 people and a lineup that brings international pop, R&B, and electronic headliners to Southeast Asia's most accessible highland venue.
Good Vibes Festival has run since 2013 and is Malaysia's most commercially significant international music festival. It takes place at Genting Highlands, the casino and resort complex on a plateau 6,000 feet above sea level in the Titiwangsa mountains, approximately 90 minutes from central Kuala Lumpur by road. The altitude keeps temperatures at a pleasant 18–22°C even in high Malaysian summer, which is the practical reason for the venue: central KL in July and August is 32–35°C with high humidity, while Genting is cooler and drier. The festival uses the outdoor plateau space adjacent to the resort, with multiple stages and camping available.
Past headliners have included Ed Sheeran, Lorde, and Khalid. The 2026 lineup is typically announced three to four months before the event. The festival draws heavily from the Malaysian, Indonesian, and Singaporean markets alongside international visitors. Genting is accessible from Kuala Lumpur by the Genting Skyway cable car (running from Gohtong Jaya, itself accessible by bus from Puduraya Bus Terminal in KL) or by coach from several KL departure points; festival shuttle coaches are organised from central KL on festival days. The KL hostel scene centres on the Chinatown and Bukit Bintang neighbourhoods, with dorm beds from MYR 30–60 (approximately £5–£11).

Day-by-day breakdown
The festival shuttle from KL takes about 90 minutes. Kuala Lumpur Chinatown's Petaling Street night market, the Petronas Towers observation deck (book online in advance; opens at 9am), and the Batu Caves Hindu temple complex 13km north of the city centre are the three most distinctive KL attractions. A full morning covers two of the three. Eat in Chinatown before the festival; the hawker stalls on Jalan Petaling serve nasi lemak, char kway teow, and laksa from MYR 6–12 per dish.
Gates at Genting open at 4pm on festival days. The cool highland air after the humidity of KL is immediately noticeable on arrival. Main stage headliners go on at 8:30pm. The outdoor setting at altitude means the sound carries across the festival ground with minimal reflection. After the headliner, the festival after-party moves to the indoor venues in the Genting casino resort, which runs until 3am. Shuttles back to KL leave throughout the night, with the last bus at 4am.
