New Year's Eve at TownSquare El Nido draws thousands of visitors to the limestone karst beach town for fireworks over Bacuit Bay, live music on the beachfront, and the most photogenic midnight countdown in the Philippines.
El Nido's New Year's Eve festival has grown considerably in scale over recent years, driven by the town's expanding tourism infrastructure and its position as one of the most sought-after beach destinations in Southeast Asia. The event is centred on the TownSquare El Nido, the pedestrianised area around the main beach on Calle Real, with outdoor stages, food stalls, and the fireworks display over Bacuit Bay at midnight. The limestone karst formations that define El Nido's landscape create a genuinely dramatic backdrop for the fireworks: the illuminated rock formations reflected in the calm bay water in the minutes before midnight is one of the most photographed New Year's scenes in the Philippines.
El Nido in late December is peak season: the habagat (southwest monsoon) has ended and the amihan (northeast) season brings clear skies and calm seas. This is the best time for island-hopping tours around the Bacuit Archipelago, and most visitors combine the New Year's festival with several days of snorkelling the coral gardens around Shimizu Island and the Big Lagoon. The El Nido town accommodation books out for 26 December to 2 January entirely; book three to four months ahead. Budget guesthouses on Calle Hama run PHP 800–1,500 per room; tours to the islands cost PHP 1,200–1,800 per person for a full-day group boat.

The outdoor stage at TownSquare begins at 8pm with local bands and DJs. The crowd builds from 10pm; by 11:30pm the beachfront road is at capacity. The fireworks launch from boats in Bacuit Bay at midnight and run for 15–20 minutes. After midnight, the celebration continues at the TownSquare bars until 3am.
