What Is Corfu Kavos Beach Parties?

Kavos sits at the southern tip of Corfu, 56km from the island capital, and functions as one of the most concentrated package-holiday party zones in the Mediterranean. The main strip — a single road running parallel to the beach — has roughly 25 clubs and bars in 1km, all open from 10pm until 6am throughout July and August. The clientele is predominantly British, Irish, and Scandinavian, drawn by cheap all-inclusive packages from tour operators including Thomson, TUI, and easyJet Holidays. This shapes the atmosphere: it is overtly commercial, predominantly young (18–25), and makes no pretence of being authentically Greek.

The key venues are Base Club at the entrance to the strip, which plays commercial and EDM to the largest single capacity on the strip; CK Club midway along with drink deals that run all night; and Rescue Club at the far end, which gets going last and runs longest. Karaoke bars and shots-based bars fill the gaps. Ouzo shots cost €1–€2; cocktail jugs (aimed at groups) run €15–€25. The beach during the day is directly behind the bar strip and is free to use; sunlounger hire costs €5–€8.

Getting There

What to Expect

Day-by-day breakdown

Afternoon

Kavos beach and boat trips

The beach in front of the Kavos strip is a reasonable sandy beach that is far less crowded during the day than you might expect given the night volume. Day boat trips to the Diapontia Islands (€30–€45 including snorkelling and a beach stop) leave from the jetty at the north end of Kavos and run 9am–5pm. Several operators on the strip sell tickets. The beach's morning-after silence between 8am and noon — when the clubs have been shut for two hours and the night crowd is horizontal — is genuinely peaceful.

Night

The strip from Base to Rescue

Start at whichever bar is running a drinks deal from around 10pm; most strip bars have deal boards outside and there is always competition between them. Base Club fills from midnight and runs the biggest dancefloor. If you are working the whole strip, start at the Kavos town end and move south. Rescue Club at the far end runs latest and attracts the crowd that wants to keep going after Base and CK wind down around 4am. The strip is pedestrianised at night; it is physically impossible to get lost.

Practical Tips

Getting to Kavos
Fly into Corfu International Airport (CFU). Take a bus from Corfu Town bus station (€5–€6, 90 minutes) or a taxi (€50–€70, 50 minutes) to Kavos. Buses run several times daily in summer. Most package holidays include a transfer from the airport.
Drink deals
Every bar on the strip runs drinks deals from opening until midnight. Typical structure: €10–€15 for unlimited drinks for two hours, or buy-one-get-one on cocktails until midnight. Read the small print: 'unlimited' sometimes excludes spirits. Pre-drinking from a supermarket is cheaper if budget matters.
Peak weeks
Mid-July to mid-August is the absolute peak. Everything is at maximum capacity and noisiness. June and September are noticeably quieter — some bars are not yet open in early June, and the 18–30 crowd thins dramatically after the first week of September.
Theft on the strip
Phones and wallets left on tables or in back pockets disappear with some regularity at peak times. Leave everything non-essential at the accommodation. A money clip with the night's cash only is the practical solution.
Corfu town is different
Corfu Town (Kerkyra), 56km north, is a UNESCO-listed Venetian old town with a completely different character: restaurants, wine bars, and a nightlife scene that runs until 2am with a predominantly Greek and European visitor crowd. It is worth a day trip.
Bus to Corfu Town
The KTEL bus from Kavos to Corfu Town runs several times daily for €5–€6 and takes 90 minutes. It is the cheapest option for a day trip. Taxis cost €50–€70 one way but are available at any time.
