Its cafe, garden terrace and other common areas are idea for hanging out with other travellers. The staff are extremely helpful and they organize guided tours, excursions around Slovenia. There is a bar with cheap drinks and a cheerful environment for socialising with fellow guests. Daily events organised at the hostel include live music at the bar and daily parties in the lobby. The hostel is located in a funky neighbourhood and the Metelkova City area with bars, pubs, galleries and museums, theatres are at a walking distance from the hostel. It is an amazing party hostel and ideal for having fun with new friends made while travelling.

The postcard-perfect centre, with cobbled streets and pastel buildings. By day, it’s tourist central; by night, the bars spill onto the pavements. The riverfront is lined with cafés, but prices jump after 9 pm. Hostels here are pricier, but you’re within stumbling distance of most nightlife.

Trubarjeva cesta

A lively strip of budget eateries, hostels, and dive bars, running north from the old town. The crowd is young and international, with backpackers from Hostel Zzz and The Fuzzy Log filling the tables. Street performers play most evenings, and the kebab shops stay open until 4 am. It’s a 15-minute walk from Metelkova.

Metelkova’s main techno venue, set in a converted warehouse. The sound system is rough but powerful, and the crowd is a mix of locals and backpackers. Entry is €5–€8, including one drink. Doors open at 11 pm, but the room doesn’t fill until after midnight. Expect strobe lights and a concrete floor that sticks to your shoes.
